We would like to provide you information related to the EU Customs Zone Regulation on Goods No. 1875/2006 that will come into force on January 1, 2011.

Before the vehicle loaded enters the EU customs zone, the forwarding agent is required to submit a preliminary summary declaration. As a result of the required examinations by the relevant EU customs administration after the preliminary summary declaration, a MRN number will be provided and the vehicles will use this number for entering the EU customs zone.

In addition to the above mentioned procedure related to the forwarding agents, it’s been announced that EORI Number (Economic Operators Registration and Identification Number) will be applied for all parties carrying out transactions at EU Customs Administrations starting by July 1, 2009 in order to submit the relevant preliminary summary declaration. It’s been stated that the enforcement date is changed to 01.01.2011 with the regulation no. 273/2009 on 02.04.2009 and that the dates between 01.07.2009 – 31.12.2010 are considered as a transition period.

We would like to remind you that you are required to obtain EORI Numbers in order to not experience any delay during EU border passages within this scope as of 01.01.2011.

2. The validity of the existing EORI no. can be checked fromhttp://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds/eorinumval_en.htm including the EORI database.
3. The EORI no. of each company is required to provide accurately and completely on all Electronic Customs Declarations, including the preliminary electronic declarations submitted by using IRU TIR EPD system. For more information related to TIR EPD, please click here.
