A big jump up: Austria as a logistics location has risen from 22nd to 7th place in the World Bank’s recently published logistics performance index (LPI). A total of 160 countries were surveyed by the US-based financial institution.
Upper Austria’s chamber of commerce calculated that the country’s logistics industry directly delivers around EUR 8.6 billion in added value. Moreover, Austria was ranked fourth in the index’s sub-categories service quality and logistics competence (service quality) and goods delivery organisation at competitive prices.
The country’s dual vocational training schemes and its appropriate degree courses are reckoned to be another of its strengths.
